PostSubject: Sosen vs. Enryu   Tue Jan 05, 2016 12:12 am

Out in the snow covered tundra of Marzinpole Leonard sparked his cigarette as he prepared to start the match. Both the contestants where to his left and right at a distance of about 10 meters, making the distance between each other about 22 meters. Leonard looked to Sosen and then Enryu and said "I want a clean fight, no foolishness you hear me boys? The whole world is watching this fight so go and make your parents proud." Leonard would take the last puff out of his cigarette before it got down to the filter and he dropped it on the ground in front of him. The camera crew was out ready to catch all the action. Leonard told the camera man to stand in front of him as he began to start the match. He looked straight into the camera and said "To my left we have Sosen, and to my right we have Enryu. Only one fighter can win lets see who prevails, now fight!" Leonard would then teleport from the battleground to watch from a distance.

The snow crunched deliciously under Sosen's foot as he moved gently on the spot, the sweet subtle vibrations as he moved around as the proctor talked were not very important details. The white haired man mentioned a number of principles. Something about it being a clean fight, and no foolishness. All things that Sosen generally agreed with, but in the heat of the moment...well, suffice it to say he was confident that worse had happened between two young men in a high pressure situation but he would do his best to honour the grounds on which he was about to confront his opponent. One, he knew, would be his toughest yet. Enryu was not an unknown quality to him, and neither was he to Enryu. He had played this fight out a number of ways in his head already, and his simulations favoured his friend for the time being. Most of the time Enryu won. Still, stranger things had happened. Sosen was dressed partially for the cold, with a gold tinged black formal jacket and long white pants that met with insulated shoes for the snow. It would be an interesting bout to say the least. Examining his crossbow before the proctor started the round, Sosen gave himself a mental all clear. As the bout started, he started walking towards his opponent at a sedate pace, however he ensured that he was mentally primed and ready to dodge at the slightest hint of motion from Enryu.

As Sosen walked towards Enryu, clearing the distance between them slowly but surely, Enryu stayed stationary with a light smile on his face. He was not overly confident, or afraid, or cocky. He was just glad that he was being able to fight, here and now, against the man who had become his best friend at this school. They shared more blows than they did words, but that simply enhanced the friendship that had formed between them. As Sosen closed the distanced, Enryu slowly slid his foot back and his arms up in a martial arts stance. Sosen had closed seven meters, making the distance fifteen, but Enryu didn't move. He didn't even budge. Instead, he waited and allowed Sosen to make the first move this time around. No matter what happened, and no matter who won, they'd both be sure to have fun in this battle, and they'd make sure the other did not take victory easily.

As Sosen closed the distance he carefully monitored his opponents choices in position. Whilst he did so he casually readied all of the operating mechanisms for his crossbow to work aside from actually pulling the trigger to launch the quarrel. He mirrored his friends smile with one of his own. Over time the school had begun to train their prospective fighters how to deal with the emotional issues that fighting sometimes brought up. In particular these were people that you lived with and they quickly made an executive decision that simple emotional attachments shouldn't interfere with their development as professional fighters or whatever profession they chose. Some people had their own name for it, others didn't care to recognise it or take the particular class. Sosen called it the Heart of Stone. It was cold, unfeeling and immovable. It attempted to transcend the limitations of humanity and the nature of the brain itself. Whatever it was, Sosen transitioned from his steady pace forward -not unlike the glaciers of the Ice Ages- and moved into action. From ice to fire in a single fluid motion.

He fired the crossbow peacefully despite the speed at which he moved to aim, cock and activate the stored energy within the string that launched the quarrel. Almost without tell-tale inflections and with minimal telegraphing of it's actual end location - which was to be his opponent's left thigh. As he stepped forward once more, a subtle downwards direction of chi imprinted a yellow sigil onto the snow half a meter across that might prove to be useful at a later date. The distance between them was now thirteen meters as Sosen stopped and fired. Enryu would have ample time to deal with the attack, Sosen was under no rush to place himself in a dangerous situation.

As Sosen lifted his crossbow and aimed it at Enryu, Enryu went into motion. Even as he saw the crossbow moving, he could feel the movements alter the air around him. He had become completely in tune with the world around him, and he was already appreciating the massive assistance it granted him almost instantly. Moving to the right and forward the moment after Sosen squeezed the trigger, he'd dash forward four meters and then halt. He had wanted to charge forward, to use this attack of Sosen's to initiate combat. He was smarter than that, though. He knew that Sosen would not simply allow Enryu to gain distance on him like that. They had known each other in combat too often for him to make such a mistake, and this fight was too important for Sosen to just allow Enryu to make it into his game. However, Enryu was steadily preparing for his assault. Now that the distance between the two was nine meters, Enryu was going to make sure it stayed nine meters regardless of how Sosen moved- So long as Sosen was moving in retreat. At least, for the time being or for a small distance. This didn't mean he was going too move blindly, he would likely move in unpredictable zig-zags to avoid crossbow attacks, and if Sosen would move towards Enryu- Well, who knew how the Sophomore would react?

Spoiler:

The first of his fifteen available bolts went to waste, but already another one was slotted in as the first one went flying. Because Enryu had dodged as soon as Sosen pulled the trigger, it gave him time to predict where Enryu would move as he darted past Sosen's first shot - moving to his right. Despite the speed advantage, it gave Sosen more then enough time to adjust his aim once again as Enryu began to move forwards as soon as he cleared the distance of the first crossbow bolt Sosen would fire again as soon as he began his dash forwards. As Enryu approached the nine meter mark the crossbow bolt would be able to cover the distance between them in less than a second. Sosen similarly expected this attack to miss again - aimed as it was towards Enryu's right side this time. The shot was as controlled and specific as was the norm for the budding marksman, designed this time to cripple some measure of Enryu's offensive abilities - pinning him in the shoulder. It would deal relatively little damage and be quick to heal, however if it landed it would grate on his movements and prove itself to be a nuisance.

Response:

As Sosen aimed and shot towards Enryu's right side, once again he could feel the actual alteration of the air as Sosen moved and aimed the crossbow. Of course, Sosen was a aiming near Enryu's shoulder, that much he could tell by looking, and even if Enryu's eyes could not follow the bolt, which he could partially, he could literally feel the air warp to accommodate the projectile. It would not be hitting him, that much was certain. As Sosen shot at Enryu's right side, Enryu side stepped to the left and activated his shoes. With those active, he'd bolt forward three meters at his max speed (25 meters per second), so fast that Sosen could barely process it. As he reached the three meter mark, he'd activate a blinding light which would take away Sosen's vision before bolting to the right by a full meter, dashing forward two meters, then to the right and forward (diagonal) one more meter. The total distance between them would now be three meters, which Enryu would have assured by moving forward or back if Sosen had moved, and with that, Enryu would activate an ability that would yank Sosen forward at 3 m/s, while simultaneously moving towards Sosen at full speed, aiming a punch to Sosen's shoulder to loosen his grip on his crossbow, and then a punch to Sosen's face.

PostSubject: Re: Sosen vs. Enryu   Thu Jan 07, 2016 5:41 pm

As someone who had sparred with Enryu and seen him fight, his following actions did not surprise Sosen. Indeed, the dance the two of them laid across their actions appeared to slowly be coming to a close. For Sosen realised and acknowledged that Enryu also knew that his quickest way to assure victory was to remove Sosen's crossbow from him - this was the centerpiece of his strategies and abilities. To take it away was to render his opponent useless, speaking of which - Sosen rapidly reloaded the clip in preperation for the next bout.

Sosen's opponent moved faster than he could perceive, this was granted. But Sosen had long ago determined the best way to deal with the overwhelming speed of his friend - as he had attempted to in their first fight. And this was to predict the actions of his opponent. If he attempting to merely reaction, he would have no hope. So he slowly stepped away, moving back a merely meter before the flash of light blinded him. And then he started doing without attempting to perceived - allowing his instincts, his senses and hunches guide his actions. His chi expanded around him, a flash of a butterfly as it shielded him from the punch and removed the blinding nature of his opponent's spell from him, as he was pulled towards Enryu he would angle himself so that he came to face his friend so as to seamlessly pull of his counter-attack with as little forewarning as possible.

His crossbow spat out a blast of chi as soon as Enryu's fist came into contact with his shoulder. This blast was angled so as to throw Enryu backwards three meters into the air. His crossbow would then immediately launch it's entire clip into his friend, eight bolts would fly in rapid succession - all of which were aimed so as to connect with non-lethal parts of his friend's body during his time in the air. The damage this burst should deal would hopefully place his friend at the cusp of the threshold for the duelling regulations.

Before I Post:

As Enryu's fist passed through the odd butterfly formation that had formed around Sosen, Enryu felt his vision become extremely blurry. As in, he could no longer really make out where everything was. Luckily, due to his enhanced nerves, he didn't need to see to understand exactly where Sosen was and how Sosen was positioned. His fist would connect perfectly with Sosen's shoulder, and that would begin Enryu's combo. As his fast connected, Enryu would turn his entire waist, bringing his elbow down as hard as he could into Sosen's stomach, just below his rib cage. With his elbow delivered, Enryu would attempt to do an inside leg kick. Considering Sosen would likely have been turned due to the shoulder punch, and hopefully would have the wind knocked out of him due to the elbow, the leg should have connected perfectly just above the front of Sosen's knee. With both of those attacks landed, Enryu would aim to place one final attack right to the center of Sosen's back. This final attack was a hammer punch, using the bottom part of the hand below the pinky, aimed to knock the young man onto the ground with the intense force. With this combo delivered at extremely high speeds, the fight should end there.

Sosen would forfeit with his inability to sufficiently deal with Enryu's offensive. "That's all folks," he said audibly, signalling to the proctor his surrender.
