An Artists Eye [JOB] Empty
PostSubject: An Artists Eye [JOB]   An Artists Eye [JOB] EmptyFri Jun 30, 2017 7:14 am

Aether sighed to himself as he crumpled up and tossed yet another design into the trash bin of the art room, which seemed to overflow from his most recent ideas gone astray. "Why did it have to be a history teacher! Why couldn't it have been something like a biology or science teacher.." He shouted as he drew another strip of paper from a diminishing pile, pressing pencil to paper as he grumbled to himself. "At least then I'd have some idea of what they'd want. But since they came to me asking for such a wondrous piece of art I can't let them down, at the very least I can get some money out of them for my own art supplies." Within moments he let himself drift off as he drew, the features of a dragonfly resting on a tall blade of grass appearing as though a photo was being printed onto the page only to stop halfway and thrown with the rest of the drawings. "Maybe I could do a sculpture of a winged scarab beetle? Those were popular in ancient Egypt weren't they?" A new page and a new design, with Aether this time actually managing to bring it to completion. A realistic looking scarab beetle adorning most of the page, wings sprouting from its sides that curved up to a singular orb atop its head. Rolling the design up he jumped from his station and ran out of the room, heading towards the blacksmithing station, bursting into the room and pointing towards the nearest person, a small slender woman with black flowing hair. "You, I need your help. Here's the design, follow me." Aether quickly blurted out to the woman, shoving the paper into her hands before rushing back to the art room.

Delicately running her fingers over the books upon the shelf, she found herself stopping on one of them before taking it off the shelf. Taking a seat at her station in the blacksmithing, Amira found herself immersed by the smell of old books, a scent she found calming. It was a book about ancient weapon designs, how one would use them and most importantly how one would create such a weapon. She looked forlornly at the intricate designs carved onto each weapon, she by no means was an artist. She could only create the base, adding the designs was a feat outside of her range of abilities. A few moments later, she heard the loud thud of footsteps before a young man appeared, startling everyone within the room. A piece of paper was crumbled into her hands before she found herself looking upwards. He had breathed out a command quickly before heading for the door. It had happened so quickly Amira did not know what had happened. Questioning what his motive was, she would soon follow in his direction and found herself wounded up in the art room.

Looking at the young man who had come up to her so suddenly, she said in a cold voice, "What do you need from me? I am rather busy you know?" Looking at the paper she had in her hands, she noticed an intriguing design of a beetle, one from ancient Egypt especially. She began to comment aloud about the design, "Scarab beetles hm? They were popular as amulets and impression seals back in the ancient Egyptian times. They were even seen as religious animals back in the time. However, if you get down to the base details the ancient Egyptians were overall worshipping dung beetles. Although it is rather amazing how important they were in the past."

"Its for the History teachers to use in their classrooms, we're going to make a sculpture of that design down to the minuscule details. They commissioned me for a sculpture within the day and I'm no miracle worker." Aether rushed out, pulling a curtain off a large block of stone and handing over a chisel and hammer to the woman. "I'm Aether by the way, Defender class." He continued before grabbing another set of chisel and hammer and setting to work on the large stone. "You don't need to stay for the entire process, I just need the basic shape and after that I can work in the details. As a fellow artist I know how busy you can be with requests and such." He added in between hits, taking out large chunks before refining the stone down to a smooth shape as he continued to chip away at the unneeded stone.

After 30 minutes of chipping away at the stone it had begun to resemble Aether's design with a stand of stone fire holding it up, the details in the fire making it look almost as though it was a blaze frozen in time. "Okay I can make it from here." He called to the woman, standing back to take a good look at the sculpture. "If you want to get back to what you were working on you're completely free to, but if you want to stay and help with the design further I have no reason to stop you."

The boy, Aether took out a large block of stone before he had begun to pound it in, making shapes. He spoke of being commissioned by the teachers to make a work of art. The young woman was not surprised when he insisted the sculpture being finished by today as Amira knew first hand how... impatient the social studies instructors at this academy tended to be. "Artist?" She asked raising her eyebrow. It was true she made weapons and armors but her works were not intended for aesthetic properties, being focused more upon how functional they were rather than their looks. After all, a strong and powerful weapon didn't need to be pretty in order to be effective. She was hesitant to stay, however, curiosity came over her mind. The flame which had been carved out of stone looked realistic, almost as if an actual flame had been petrified. This man truly was an artist, a feat like that would never be possible for someone like her. It took too much precision and was too time-consuming for simple aesthetics.

"I will be heading back to my blacksmith station now, however, I would like your help in designing weapons if possible." She addressed the man with a simple nod. "My works aren't pretty, but they are effective. If you help me, I promise to make it worth your while in the future." As she headed back towards the opening of the doorway they stood in, she simply gave a nod. "My name is Amira, feel free to call me Ami. I look forward to working with you in the near future."
