Tunnel 2 Adventures

Lilianna could still hear the voices of her fellow adventurers, as she headed into the mouth of the second tunnel. Her eyes rolled as she pieced together that they were still trying to decide on the best way to split the task. 'Terribly inefficient...' her mind deduced, ignoring whatever words they were saying to attempt to walk through the logic. She chuckled a little bit at the realization that as they remained there, they would at least be close if something were to happen. Even in the lack of efficiency, she found that concept reassuring. Their voices began to muddle together, the further she traversed. She had no idea what they were saying, or how many of them were saying something.

Soon, she could hear nothing at all, save for the occasional crackle from the walkie talkie clipped to her waist. The silence was deafening. There was only the sound of her boots crunching across rocks and bones. She would wince whenever she would feel the crumbling remains of bones beneath her feet. The flashlight flickered every now and again, though Lilianna urged it to remain powered, at least for a while longer.

When she had gotten deep enough into the tunnel, that she was convinced no one could hear her, the young woman called out. "Come on Leo, where are you?" there was desperation in her voice. Her breath quivered as she released it in an exasperated sigh. She had been frustrated at his death, blaming herself, and now... even now... she couldn't even do whatever she needed to down a catacomb tunnel. Tears pressed against her eyes, threatening to fall. "Don't lose yourself now, Lilianna..." she urged herself. She kept walking, her light fluttering from one end of the tunnel to another.

She paused as her torchlight fell upon something solid ahead of her. The young woman lunged forward, fingertips painting the edges of the wall. It was a dead end. The young woman sighed. She had picked the wrong tunnel. She pressed the button on the side of the walkie talkie. "The second tunnel is a dead end. I'm heading back to check another one. Over."

Boots shuffled back the way she came, as she contemplated which tunnel to go down next. "We're going to get you back, Leo... I promise."
