Standard Classes Tierlist Empty
PostSubject: Standard Classes Tierlist   Standard Classes Tierlist EmptyFri Jul 07, 2017 5:59 am

This is more or less designed to display my thoughts on the current power balance within the Class system and if taken more seriously could be later revamped into the suggestion thread but at present this is more idle commentary then a member of the community stepping up with various reforms for the site's administration to consider. Unless particularly relevant, statistical benefits will not be given high priority in consideration. Oh and I won't be talking about Magician or Sage. After writing this list, I'd like to acknowledge I also give /high/ priority towards flexibility, uniqueness and access to weaponry as I believe that as the site expands and grows we will see more diversification of the damage types offered by various breeds of weaponry.

Without further ado, the standard classes.

  1. -- Tier 1 --

Soldier -- This class operates on the purview of versatility and as such it outperforms many of the other martial classes due to its unrestricted access to weapons and armour. Many of the others which are only allowed to choose selectively to create their own arsenal.

Blacksmith -- Competitive with Solider due to being able to use whatever weapons they can create, the ability to create weapons can't be overemphasised as the class will scale naturally into further levels and consistently provide a unique ability.

Bard -- Being able to apply wide area of effect buffs and debuffs makes them ridiculous, given the possibility that a Bard could reduce a statistic to 0 given time and opportunity.
Healer -- Only standard class which gives access to healing and provides the chi-boosting robes as an arsenal option. Ignore all flavour text, this class is more or less a poor man's Magician.

  2. -- Tier 2 --

Berserker -- The only martial class which offers something which that Soldier doesn't from a mechanical perspective, the ability to dual wield two handed weapons. At present, it doesn't matter that a weapon is 2h or not as all weapon damage is calculated based on ranking and user Strength, however this has the potential to change in future, saving it from being considered T3.

Siphoner -- A class which can only use weapons and armour that are magical, preventing them from actually using any weapons or armour at Rookie rank but are capable of wearing chi boosting robes. Any interaction which might benefit them somewhat, provided their class ability doesn't override the robes and forcibly set the base value of their chi to 0 regardless. 30% dmg mitigation is worth mentioning and is probably the strongest part of the class, as their inbuilt absorption ability doesn't scale with rank and would need to be abused by repeatedly touching an object multiple times within the space of a post to reach maximised value.

Hunter -- The only class which can make traps! However the utility of this ability is very much reliant on individual ability to maximise and is not innately enough to be considered T1.

Summoner -- Much like Hunter, has the potential to be quite powerful but requires inventive use of their class ability to reach their potential.

Adventurer -- A worse version of Soldier, also has access to all weapons and armour but trades a total of 35 stats in exchange for a weapon or armour valued at 2,000 credits every rank up. If the weapon or armour received scaled with rank the class becomes more viable. Still better than other marital classes.

  3. [b]-- Tier 3 --

Boxer -- Could be playing a soldier and have much greater opportunity for itemisation. It doesn't offer anything which makes it a more attractive martial alternative to Soldier or Adventurer beyond its stats.

Ninja -- Could be playing a soldier and have much greater opportunity for itemisation. It doesn't offer anything which makes it a more attractive martial alternative to Soldier or Adventurer beyond its stats.

Defender -- Could be playing a soldier and have much greater opportunity for itemisation. It doesn't offer anything which makes it a more attractive martial alternative to Soldier or Adventurer beyond its stats.

Marksman -- Could be playing a soldier and have much greater opportunity for itemisation. It doesn't offer anything which makes it a more attractive martial alternative to Soldier or Adventurer beyond its stats.

Scout -- Could be playing a soldier and have much greater opportunity for itemisation. It doesn't offer anything which makes it a more attractive martial alternative to Soldier or Adventurer beyond its stats.
